RESEARCH CENTER FOR INNOVATIVE GROUND IMPROVEMENT DIPONEGORO UNIVERSITY

Flashback to the establishment of rCIGI.

Here is a flashback to the establishment of rCIGI at Diponegoro University, Semarang.
The Research Center for Innovative Ground Improvement (rCIGI) at Diponegoro University is a research cluster within the Faculty of Engineering that focuses on Innovative Ground Improvement
The establishment history of rCIGI at Diponegoro University has a long journey. After going through several phases of scientific activities and disseminating information through the publication of seminar/conference books at both national and international levels since 2002, these activities have continued to evolve and expand until 2023.
Consistency in the vision, mission, objectives, and background of establishing rCIGI at Diponegoro University is evident in the dissemination of information on research findings and developments through seminars/conferences. Some notable instances include the Seminar/Conference on Geotechnical Engineering (2002 with ISBN: 979-97161-0-1; 2005 with ISBN No. 979-97161-2-8); Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering (2004 with ISBN 979 – 97161- 1 – X); Disaster Prevention and Rehabilitation (2007 with ISBN No: 978-979-97161-4-9); Geotechnical for Disaster Mitigation and Rehabilitation combined with Geotechnical and Highway Engineering (2011 with ISBN-13 978-981-4365-15-4; ISBN-10 981-4365-15-7; World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd). Similarly, the publication of the book "Geotechnical Prediction and Practice in Dealing with Geohazards" in 2012 by Springer, Netherlands, has been accomplished with the support and collaboration of expert panels from universities, national and international professional organizations. These experts continue to provide consistent support as National and International Expert Panels for rCIGI at Diponegoro University. With this full support, we hope that rCIGI Undip will achieve success and contribute significantly to the nation, the global community, and society.
In response to the developments and progress in innovative research in Indonesia and globally, it is crucial to maintain and nurture the good collaboration that has been in place since 2002. Therefore, a legal framework for the establishment of rCIGI at Diponegoro University is necessary. This is evidenced by the issuance of the Decree of the Rector of Diponegoro University No: 60/UN7.A/HK/III/2003 and its amendments through Decree No: 173/UN7.A?HK/VI/2023. It is noteworthy that a significant number of national and international expert panel teams, since 2002, continue to collaborate and actively support rCIGI at Diponegoro University.
