The conference theme is “Recent Innovative Ground Improvement Technology for Mega Infrastructures Development: Challenges and Opportunities”. The conference focuses on an innovative method on ground improvement for problematic soils including soft soil, expansive soil, liquifiable soil and earthquake loading, but not limited to,

  • Soil characteristics, Engineering geology and investigation
  • Soft Soil Engineering
  • Ground Improvement: Deep vibro technique, Dynamic Compaction; Deep Soil Mixing; Rigid Inclusion; Vacuum Consolidation; Preloading with surcharging, Stone Column; Geotextile etc.
  • Liquefaction, Soil dynamics and geotechnical earthquake engineering
  • Geotechnical reliability, risk assessment and management
  • Shallow and deep foundations
  • Expansive Soil etc.

The conference will provide an excellent opportunity for Engineers, Professionals, Academicians, Researchers, Construction equipment and material manufacturers, suppliers and Government Officials to integrate and disseminate information on recent developments and case histories related to innovative ground improvement for very soft soil, clay shale, soil dynamics, geotechnical challenge for earthquake prone area, liquefaction, innovations of foundation, embankment on ultra soft soil, etc. foundation, embankment on ultra soft soil, etc.

rCIGI UNDIP, or Research Center for Innovative Ground Improvement Cluster Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro, is an institution that carries out researches, developments, study and applications, as well as integrated ground improvement inventions and innovations with the aim of seeking creative innovations by researches and then developing them to produce results that are more proven and economical. rCIGI UNDIP   also has missions  to build collaboration between academicians, researchers and geotechnical practitioners,  narrow gaps in the development of innovative solutions for ground improvements that can be accounted for technically and legally in Indonesia and internationally, and disseminate  research information  that has been carried out or published to stakeholders.

rCIGI UNDIP consistent with some of the goals of International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), this International Conference intends to focus on interaction between academicians and practitioners for the development of better solutions. We have implemented this International Conference in Semarang, Indonesia, starting in 2002 and continuing in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2011, we have become a successful host. The International Conference has developed and is a tribute to superior collaboration and is fully supported by a team of national and international expert panels along with universities, professional organizations, and especially supported by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia. We have actively sought to bridge the gap between geotechnical engineering research and practice, and in a short time we have also managed to stabilize academic relations with a number of countries in Asia, Europe, Australia and USA.
